Dublin Dual Denmark Meets UK

Both of the groups have just linked up at night.. After some mis communication which resulted in me being the only one who did not visit Guiness factory.. the 6 denmark people ksy, yh, abel, andru, grace n darren finally linked up with me huiting edel and fred. Bigger group more fun but less effective.. moving from place to place certainly takes up more time. tomorrow we will be going on a nature tour.. to where the irish beauty lies... we already covered the city centre..

I reached dublin on thursday 1700 hrs.. Julian picked me up, gave me a short tour of the needle(spire) and river liffy. then we took a bus 123 to his place and alighted. My impression of Dublin is that it is a lower grade version of london.. the streets are dirtier.. and in the more dodgy areas there are begger... even in the temple bar area there are beggers too.. but it is famous for its nightlife, we went to pubs at night the past 2 nights and it is totally crowded that we cant find a gd place...crowded palces are good breeding grounds for accidental touching as edel will testify to.. hence the first night, i went to meet the uk peeps and their 2 korean frens from nottingham uni.. we ate at this epicure where i ate my fish and chips for 7.80 euros and then we walked ard the Grafton street which is the orchard road of dublin but everything was closed already so we went back quite early..

Fri 21 Apr

Met the rest at 12 plus in trinity college which is one of 3 colleges built by Queen mary. the other 2 being oxford and cambridge.. we hung ard in the realli green nice courtyard.. just think o.c and people sitting ard during lecture breaks in the hot sun and eating their sandwiches... so cool.. i guess it is a european thing.. but the amazing thing was that this place was a tourist attraction too so it is common for students to be used to keep giving directions to people... some even appear in exam halls and ask.. Trinity college is divided into the scholars and the students.. apparently once u pass some exam u have some scholar status which gives u the liberty to walk on the lawn/ ie walk on the grass ... and play crotchet and also order a pint of beer during exams.. they are also given more rebates etc.. we went into the book of kells for free cos julian and nigel could bring us in, being students of trinity college and helping us save the 7 euro entrance.. these 2 housemates are realli funny.. an excerpt from one of their intellgent crap banter..

jules: u can take pics surreptitiously, gerald managed one yesterday when i brought him in..
nigel: oh surreptiously, word of the day eh jules?
jules: no dude, word of the day for u..

and some other one liners which are confirm higher level than me n pawz crap.. he and gerald were at it the previous night too discussing snails and putting salt on them to make them explode..

anyway, the book of kells is one amazing book, some latin manuscript of 800 AD gospel .. i oso not gian the details.. then also go see the long library.. as usual i sneaked a couple of fotos cos not allowed to take.. but upload later.. then we went for lunch in this little joint where i ate a sandwich or panini with nice soup for 5.95E, we went into dublin castle next for 3.50E, some historical house of the viceroy and how gunpowder blew up the castle moat and foundation.. it depicted ireland as the poorer sister of the great uk.. at night we went back play cards, had crepe dinner for 6 euro, and then tried to get free entry into this club M but we were not appropriately dressed so we went to oliver st gogarty pub but the crowd was old and in hordes.. we decided to wait til denmark pple come the nxt day.. and departed the place.

22 Apr(Sat)

I decided not to join the others cos i was meeting the denmark pple to pick them up.. so i spent a great afternoon wif julian and his med frens prakesh and kei.. harping on racist jokes and crappy innuendos, we had lunch in this middle grade chinese restaurant where i had a delicious meal indeed.. stewed beef, sweet and sour chicken, and tofu with seafood.. i so long nvr eat chinese food le so i ate the most out of them.. the meal cost 9.50 E each ..well worth it considering my craving.. i then shopped for their gal fren present and was brought along to wish her happy bday n present her flowers at this Butlers restaurant, famed to have the BEST hot chocolate in the world.. we even went to this high class store ala taka high class stores and they bought a tie and then a foto frame for their frens.. they left me to rush to that fren's bday party as iwaited in the rain for the others to arrive.. turns out they went to guiness first... damn idiot lor.. i call, sms but all uncontactable so i went to nearby pub to watch liverpool beat chelsea.. almost 2 hrs past the expected time of arrival... then they called.. make me worry for nothing.. in any case we made edel n gang wait longer as the danish checked into their dodgy hostel abrahams house.. then we all went to eat mac and walk ard temple bar area.. some went back slp, while i got 1115 curfew, then the others went to pub crawl a while...

so here i m to blog all alone in julian's house wif his gay housemate kiren in case i too lazy.. to see pics of norway.. heres a preview of william pro shots.. http://willysweden.blogspot.com/

Scandinavia United Travel Group

What an impromptu trip this has been. Armed with the Scanrail (which allows me to travel 5 days on the railway within Scandinavia, which for the uninitiated, includes norway, sweden, denmark and finland, i explored all 4 countries, trying to cover as much ground as possible. Norway trains are super expensive. One way train from Oslo to Bergen would cost about S$100 and cos' i was the last minute addition to the trip, the prices were exorbitant due to the easter period too.

My initial plan was to go Russia for the easter but due to kiasu international students, i was unable to register in time. Hence, not wanting to be the only person left in finland, i researched dublin and spain, trying to link up with the danish people but it was too ex. 800sgd to go barcelona! hence, norway beckons. Summore SN already research so much and i juz had to follow his super comprehensive plan given. Just look at our travel group..

Songning, Emmy and Grace Thng (from denmark)
Me, Jenny and Amy( from finland... the 2 copykats also tagged along after i told them abt my plans and they helped me do my accomms planning)
Grace Yan, Sharmaine, Sharon and William from Lund, Sweden

I barely knew any of them.. merely nordic queen whom i nvr met before and the rest only heard of Songgggggggggg ningggggggg... I left on the 11th afternoon and took a Viking line ferry to Stockholm... Watched a nice movie Casanova on board, ate, slept, partied and casinoed there.. All this was done in solitude cos' i travelled alone.. which was pretty dangerous cos this African suddenly came in at night and i was apprehensive having watched Eurotrip and being reminded of the italian gay guy who went into carriages and borgiano/miskusi people. The ferry finally reached after 15 hrs and i had to carry my heavy backpack and walk around Gam la Stan. The old town of Stockholm. I watched the change of guards there and the royal palace.. it was nicer than buckingham's change of guards mainly cos' i had unobscured view too. I then took a 9 hour train ride to Oslo, norway to meet the other people. Another long and boring solitary train ride .. i think i buy scanrail spent more than half my time travelling on train. i then arrived at the railway and found our hostel in a seedy area.. Sentrum Pensionjat.. but the hostel was SUPER nice.. comfy beds, imba bathing facility wif damn nice english music which reminded me of perfect10 jc days.. however the area was actually a red light district and i was actually propositioned..

Shall say more about norway later cos the pics of the natural scenery depict the whole journey. I left Norway on the 16th, Easter Sun and last minute decided to go to Lund and bunk wif William since i din pay for accoms in stockholm like jenny n amy did and i still had days left on my scanrail. After an insightful journey abt hong kong, We reached at 1030 pm and watched the mummy 2 which was showing on tv whilst eating mee. then the next day, i settled all my admin booking stuff for dublin and back to helsinki.. then i decided i might as well travel to dublin from denmark since it was cheaper.. the lund people then cooked me a fantastic feast.. it's interesting cos they have duty chefs for different days and all of them can cook so well!

so here i am in denmark now. andrew n me walked back from lyndby at midnight last night cos we missed the last bus.. but here i am! I will be in denmark til thursday, then go to dublin to meet julian who is hosting me! Edelene, huiting and fred will be there too.. while the denmark peeps are arriving in dublin on saturday.. ahhh the coming together of NUS people in foreign lands.. the sole purpose of SEP: travel bug

Complain Complain

To: Whom it may concern

I would like to make an observation about the Otaniemi FSHS. On the 1st April, I was down with flu, fever and a throat inflammation. As it was the weekend, i only made a trip down on the 3rd April. I was slightly perturbed by the service at the counter at 1300 hrs. This lady actually gave me the impression that i was not welcome. Having paid the student union fee, i believe i am entitled to the health services. However, the receptionist sort of downplayed my illness and asked me to drink more water and have more rest. I understand that the doctor could be swarmed by patients but I believe that the top priority of clinics is to welcome patients and not to drive them away. I was told that the doctor was not free on that day and after my persistent asking, i was told that i could come down the next morning if my condition was bad. I mentioned that my phlegm was yellowish, indicating a viral infection, probably some antibiotics should be prescribed to me. The lady then spouted out this list of drugs and asked me to go to the nearest pharmacy to purchase. I then asked for the number and place of the pharmacy and clinic if i wanted to make an appointment and i was told to check it online.

I was told that the Finnish health service is reputably one of the best in Europe but this incident has tainted my impression. Perhaps i am unclear about common procedure in Finland clinics and you could enlighten me on this area.

Thank you. I sent this email to her boss after i was pissed with nice little receptionist. Dun ever provoke me when i m sick summore. i think i have inherited complain instincts from caiamy.

Thats the venue of the Organizational behaviour exam (HRM) which i just took yesterday. 10 am to 1300 hrs. Finnish exams are usually so long as compared to NUS exams where u have to piah finish the exam. I left after one hr. The 18 MCQs was quite hard and tricky and you know the standard when the passing mark is 6 marks. There is negative marking for all the MCQs here such that i only dared to attempt 12/18 and i already found out that got 2 wrong so pray.. essay qns was pretty easy and so easy to crap.

and the other photo is my CCN lecture group members in the previous semester. Xavier, Roberto , Otto

What a SPORTY SEP

Presenting Real Players

and FC Singapore

Spot the similarities? Yes 6 of us were essentially playing for 2 teams of 5 people. cos' us being kiasu singaporeans thought that it would be better if we had more playing time since we each paid 6 euros for the Overnight sports carnival on Fri. It started at 10 pm and lasted til' 2 am at this very big sports complex which houses 20 over courts, tennis courts, squash courts, badminton courts and has a swimming complex too. In the end, we regretted playing so much soccer cos' we were all shagged out in the end. Total of intensive 72 mins of Futsal! Our grp stage was impressive. Real Players drew 0-0 and won 1-0 while FC Singapore won 2-1 and drew 3-3. However, we were humbled by the eventual champions who trounced us 8-0.. the italian jersey team were simply playing with us with their superior skill and they were clearly tougher n bigger size. Our poor kj got bowled over a couple of times. And they made me over-exert too despite me being slightly sick after i was dulan that they were so rough but after piahing n trying to push them off the ball, it was simply futile.. no wonder my body is still aching now.. 3 days after the tournament. but i think the 6 euros was worth it. look at the freebies and the unseen gatorade bottle plus a free cabin ride to Stockholm!!

The day before, we went bowling with Sami, Marika and Elina. For an hour, we paid 5 euros each. Fellow hcjcians from imperial college alvin n kayteck also came with zm to see see. It was pretty much the whole SG NUS gang present.. 5 of us EE gang, then ISE peeps Ivan, Dai da n Wu Zhe + bob too. As usual, super zai in everything jinfu stole the show with his strikes n turkeys

The transistion from Winter to Spring is really hideous.. Ice melting, dirty snow, gravel lying everywhere.. it is a chore to walk ard properly too.. ur jeans bottom get wet and muddy and instead of snow, it rains now... the ice is back and it is easier to slip yet again...
